KARACHI, Dec 9: Recruitment process in the police department will begin next month and continue up to February after which all vacancies will be filled.

The heirs of police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty would be given preference in these recruitments, said the Inspector-General of Sindh police, Syed Kamal Shah, while distributing Eid gift packs among the widows and heirs of police personnel who died in the line of duty, at the district police headquarters South here on Sunday.

The IG distributed Eid gift packs among 195 families of police personnel of five police districts and the CIA. The Eid gift packs were given with the cooperation of the President of the Karachi Kiryana Merchants Association, Rais Ashraf Tar.

The IG paid rich tribute to policemen who laid down their lives in the line of duty. He said he would soon meet their families individually so that their problems could be solved. He directed all the SSPs to meet these families before Eid on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, find out their problems and submit report to him for necessary action.

Earlier, the DIG, Tariq Jamil, said this function was being organized for the past 9-10 years with the cooperation of philanthropists.— APP
