ISLAMABAD, June 21 Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Wapda are leading in the National Women basketball championship being played at the Pakistan Sports Complex.

Both the teams have so far won two matches each in their respective pools without facing any defeat.

On Sunday, the second day of the five-day championship, the sportswomen managed to hold the spectators spellbound with their expertise.

Giving an excellent performance, Wapda thrashed the NWFP 96-46 and dominated the proceedings of the four quarters.

Meanwhile, HEC overpowered Balochistan by a big margin of 76-20.

In another match played between Punjab and the NWFP, the former had an easy win with a score of 35-18.

Sindh gave stiff resistance to Rangers but the latter won the game by 35-14.

On Saturday, the championship kicked off with a fabulous and colourful start.

Teams from all over the country are participating in the championship being organised by HEC in collaboration with Pakistan Basketball Federation and Pakistan Sports Board. —Sport Reporter
