Hyderabad hockey polls held

HYDERABAD, Nov 23 Anwar Hussain and Iftikharuddin were elected president and secretary respectively of the Hyderabad District Hockey Association (DHA) on Monday.

The elections were held under the supervision of scrutiny and election committee of Pakistan Hockey Federation for Sindh led by its chairman Iftikhar Syed, along with members Jan Mohammad and Mohammad Asif.

15 hockey clubs participated in the scrutiny process and 11 of them were granted voting rights while four clubs were given playing rights.

The newly elected president and secretary have pledged to protect interests of hockey players for development and promotion of the sport.

Anwar Hussain (president); Iftikharuddin (secretary); Naveeduddin, Shakeel Ahmed (vice-presidents); Khalid Munir, Ahsan (joint secretaries); Nadeem Adil (finance secretary); Shahabuddin, Shakeel Qureshi, Ashfaq Ahmed Ansari, Naeem Waheed and Sanaullah (executive committee members).
