KESC clinch basketball title

KARACHI, April 2 KESC struggled to carve out 48-37 victory over Neighbourhood Club in the final to win Ustad Rehman Memorial Basketball tournament at Nishter Park court on Thursday evening.

The clash, witnessed by a sizeable crowd, produced quality game as the winners fought tooth-and-nail against their opponents to live up to their reputation.

At the outset, the two teams adoptive defensive strategy instead of attacking with KESC enjoying a slender 9-8 lead over Neighbourhood in the first quarter.

The winners gradually enhanced their lead and finished the second quarter 14-9 to lead 23-17 at half time.

The next two quarters saw KESC winning 11-7 and 14-13 to land the title to the delight of spectators.

Talha Amjad was the pick for the winners with a score of 15. He was ably assisted by Rashid Khan and Dilawar Khan who contributed 12 apiece.

Raja Jehanzeb emerged highest scorer for losers with 10. He was followed by Asad Ali and Hammad who scored seven points each.
