KARACHI, Sept 14 The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC), a blend of experienced players, overcame some anxious moments when they beat Arambagh Club 89-80 in the closely fought final to win the Ramazan basketball tournament at the latter's court on Sunday evening.

The winners led 53-43 at half time.

Jawaid Khan, a former international, was the main architect of his team's success and credited himself with highest 35 points.

Though Arambagh had the honour of scoring the first point of the final, the KESC soon settled and surged 6-4. KESC increased their lead gradually and barring once when they had slender 40-38 lead, they led mostly by 10 points - 48-38, 53-43, 61-51 and 70-60.

Talha Amjad and Hammad Khan also proved their mettle and equally shared 32 points. Rashid Mushtaq and Azeem scored 12 and 8 respectively.

Sultan Habib was the pick for Arambagh and brilliantly scored 33. Abdullah (15), Akmal Jamil (12), Ashraf Yayha (10) and Adnan Ali (6) were the other scorers.
