Lahore Lions in final

LAHORE, Nov 21 Lahore Lions will take on Islamabad Panthers in the final of second National Twenty20 Veterans Cricket Cup on Sunday at Lahore's famous Aitcheson College ground.

On Saturday the League phase was wrapped up with Karachi Kings suffering stunning blow of 33-run defeat at the hands of Islamabad Panthers at Race Course Park, Jail Road while Lahore Lions cut Punjab Tigers to size with 88 runs win at Lahore Country Club, Muridke.

It was third successive win for Lahore and they are tipped as favourites to clinch Sunday final.

Lahore Lions won the toss through their skipper Ashiq Hussain Qureshi and decided to bat on the turf of picturesque Lahore Country Club.

Lahore piled up 209 for four wickets with Mian Pervez top scored 66, supported by Imran Buchha (51), Arshed Khan (52). Sarfraz Azeem took 2 for 31. In reply, Punjab managed an ordinary 121 for seven with Zakir (35), Shiekh Saleem (22) and Sarfraz Azeem (24*) doing well with the bat. Mian Pervez took 3-15.

In the other match Islamabad Panthers stunned Karachi Kings. Islamabad's 153 proved to be enough as they outgunned Karachi who hit only 121 in reply and were vulnerable against bowling of Aziz who took 3 for 14.—APP
