National Judo from today

LAHORE, June 11 National Judo Championship for under-17 boys and girls commences at the Sports Complex, Peshawar, from Saturday.

Teams from all four provinces — Capital Territory, Fata and four top departments (Army, Wapda, Police and Railways) — will be taking part in the event in the following weight categories

Girls -36, -40, -44, -48, -52, -56, -60kg as well as open weight.

Boys -45, -50, -56, -60, -66, -73, -81kg as well as open weights.

The best players of the championship will be picked for the national team to compete in the International Junior Tournament to be held at Cheongju, Korea, from July 10 to 11.

The Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) has formed a five-member national selection committee headed by Secretary Masood Ahmed to select the team. The selected players will also take part in the 2010 World Judo Championship.
