KARACHI, Nov 26 National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) gave Sindh an 11-0 drubbing while Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) beat hosts Karachi 3-1 on the inaugural day of the NBP Junior Hockey Cup at the Hockey Club of Pakistan on Tuesday afternoon.

The one-sided encounter between NBP and Sindh saw the bankers' captain and centre-forward Haseem Khan leading from the front when he scored as many as six goals.

Two goals each were scored by Yasir Shabbir and Mohammad Rizwan with Mohammad Atiq bringing in the 11th.

The second match, won by KESC 3-1 had their captain and fullback Ali Mehdi, right-out Sajid Ali and right-in Amir Iqbal scoring one each.

Meanwhile Karachi's consolation goal came through their right-out Sarfaraz Khan.

The matches were supervised by umpires Mohsin Ali Khan and Ghufran Bukhari.

Earlier, NBP President Syed Ali Raza, the chief guest on the occasion, while assuring that his bank will continue to sponsor the annual tournament, also said that they would be the main sponsors for the Senior Hockey Cup to commence in Lahore from Dec 22.

Thursday's fixtures

Balochistan v Habib Bank Limited at 2.00pm; Punjab v Pakistan International Airlines at 3.45pm. Both matches will be played at the UBL Ground.
