Sialkot Bulls gore Islamabad Tigers

KARACHI, Sept 10 Maksons Sialkot Bulls and Colony Multan Falcons triumphed in the 1st MCB Junior Hockey Super League at the Hockey Club of Pakistan (HCP) on Thursday.

Maksons Sialkot Bulls outclassed Bahria Town Islamabad Tigers 5-0. The match also had its significance for being the first encounter to see a hat-trick scored.

Sialkot's right-out Mohammad Umair, the hat-trick-scorer, found the net in the third, 27th and 29th minutes with the other two goals being scored by left-in M. Dilbur (20th min) and centre-forward Dawood Khalid (36th min).

Sialkot's centre-half Mohammad Jafar, who made all the goals possible by giving timely passes was named Man of the Match. Former Pakistan Captain Mohammad Sarwar, the chief guest on the occasion, gave away the prize.

In the other match, Colony Multan Falcons edged past CDGK Karachi Dolphins 4-3.

For Multan, the goals were scored by centre-forward Safeer Hussain (27th and 62nd mins), right-in Hafiz Zohaib (21st min) and centre-half Mohammad Mushtaq (45th min).

Meanwhile, right-in Sohail Ashraf (fifth min), centre-half M. Salman (29th min) and centre-forward Mohammad Ali (74th min) scored for Karachi.

Multan's Safeer Hussain was declared Man of the Match and rewarded by Senior Executive, Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Pervaiz Bhindara, the chief guest on the occasion.

Earlier on Wednesday evening, Atlas Honda Faisalabad Bulls beat Maymar Quetta Leopards 2-0. The goals were scored by right-out Akbar Ali (28th min) through penalty-corner conversion and left-out Naghman Ahmad (45th min) through a field goal.

Akbar Ali was later also named Man of the Match and presented the prize by International Latafat Shah.

The day's last match between Colony Multan Falcons and Bahria Town Islamabad Tigers turned out to be a goalless draw.

Islamabad's centre-half Imtiaz was named Man of the Match and given the prize by ADO Revenue CDGK Mushtaq Ahmed.
