Women`s team: Selector snubbed

Published June 11, 2010

LAHORE, June 10 The entire selection committee for the national women's cricket team was not consulted when finalising the names of the 30 probables for the Asian Games to be held in China in November this year.

While the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Women's Wing Manager Ayesha Ashar claims to have sent the names of the probables to the Games organisers after having them confirmed by the head of the three-member committee Farrukh Zaman, one of the committee members has informed, on the condition of anonymity, that he was not consulted by anyone in the matter.

“I don't know when and who selected the probables for the Asian Games and I guess it would be better to ask the secretary of the wing about this,” the member said.

Meanwhile, Ayesha has said that they considered the previous performances of the players in picking the team and couldn't send the list to each selection committee member due to shortage of time.

Besides Farrukh, the three-member selection committee comprises Manzoor Elahi and Ashraf Ali.
