SUKKUR, April 22: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal has criticized President Gen Pervez Musharraf for his statement in which he termed parliament uncivilized.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Sindh MMA secretary-general Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro, Abdul Qayoom Halejvi and other party leaders said the president had humiliated parliament members and the people.

They said Gen Musharraf had promised to restore a true democracy after he ousted then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The graduate assembly was his own creation, the MMA leaders reminded the president.

They said Gen Musharraf was not a constitutional president and he was occupying the office without any legal authority. The MMA would accept only an elected president, they added.
