KHAIRPUR, Dec 21 The Khairpur district chapter of the Sindh Social Forum has called upon the government to undertake relief measures for the rain-hit people of the district.

A meeting of the forum was held in Pir Jo Goth, Kingri taluka, and presided over by its chairman Saeed Sangri.

Speaking at the meeting, Shams Larik, Nazim Pirzado, Atta Kazi and other office-bearers of the forum expressed concern over the devastation caused by three-day continuous downpour in the district.

They said that those who were injured in various incidents of wall and roof collapse during the rain should be provided medical treatment on government expenses.

They said that five members of a family who were injured in such an incident in Waliyo Shaikh village, Kingri, were poor and should be extended financial help for medical treatment.

They said that due to devastation to crops and orchards, the farmers should be exempted from payment of Abiyana and agricultural loans which should be waived off.
