KHAR, May 3 Taliban and tribal lashkar took positions against each other as talks between Salarzai and Mamond tribes ended inconclusively in Bajaur tribal region on Sunday.
Tense calm prevailed in the area when a 12-member delegation of Mamond tribe held a meeting with elders of Salarzai tribe to broker ceasefire between Bajaur Taliban and tribal lashkar.
The elders of both the tribes have agreed to hold a jirga for resolving the issue through dialogue. However, chief of Salarzai lashkar and former MNA Shahabuddin Khan ruled out talks with Taliban.
TWO KILLED A man and his and son were killed and two others injured when they were defusing a shell at their home to sell it as scrap in Banda area of tehsil Khar on Saturday night.
Ikramullah, his son and two other members of his family were busy to defuse a shell fired by jetfighters during the Bajaur operation to sell it as scrap. But the sell went off with a bang killing IKram and his son and injuring their two other relatives.
FREED Taliban militants freed all the detained people belonging to Salarzai tribe on Sunday.Taliban released about 25 tribesmen of Salarzai tribe, who were disembarked by them near Chakdara during search operation. There was no tribal elder among the detained persons.
Our Correspondent from Parachinar adds Two persons were wounded in landmine explosions in Kurram tribal region on Sunday, officials said.
The incidents occurred in two different areas near the Afghan border.
Sources said that Kifayat Hussain was injured by a landmine planted in the field by unidentified persons in Piwar area. He suffered serious injuries and was shifted to hospital.
Another landmine went off in Shalozan injuring a tribesman Qaiser Hussain seriously. The series of landmine explosions have maimed six tribesmen during the last couple of days.
Local people have been demanding of the government to send team of mine sweepers to clear area of explosives, but no action has been taken so far.
