KOHAT, May 2 Security forces rounded up 14 suspected militants after a power pylon was blown up in Qasim Khel area of Darra Adamkhel on Saturday.

Militants blew up the pylon in reaction to the destruction of a house of Taliban commander by the security forces. Security forces moved into the area and arrested 14 tribesmen on the suspicion of their involvement in terrorist activities. They were shifted to undisclosed location for interrogation.

The army continued artillery firing at the hideouts of militants in the mountains of Darra Adamkhel from Kohat. However there was no immediate report of casualties.

NAZIM ABDUCTED Local Taliban kidnapped the nazim of Darsamand union council in Hangu district and shifted him to undisclosed place, the district police officer told Dawn on Saturday.

It is important to mention here that local Taliban had detained him last year when he went to hold jirga for the release of some people on the instructions of the administration. Taliban released him after few days.

Hangu District Police Officer Sher Akbar Khan said that Nazim Haji Jalilur Rehman was abducted at gunpoint by unidentified armed persons.

He said that relatives of the nazim had so far nominated nobody in the case but police were making efforts to locate him.

SCHOOL DAMAGED Unidentified attackers lobbed dynamite at a private school in Gumbat Town on Rawalpindi Road partially damaging the building on late Friday night.
