MINGORA, Feb 11 Two civilians were killed in firing by security forces for violating curfew in the Kabal tehsil and two security personnel were killed in clashes with militants in the restive Swat valley on Wednesday.

Sources said the two security men were killed and four others injured as fierce fighting continued between security forces and militants in Charbagh Khas. Both the sides used heavy and light weapons against each other. The ISPR, Swat, however, denied the report.

The two civilians were killed in the Nengolai area of the Kabal tehsil. Four tubewells were also blown up by suspected militants in the Jatkot area by planting explosives near the tubewells.

Meanwhile, thousands of protesters marched against the military operation in the Barikot bazaar, which was termed by locals as first of its kind.

They condemned civilian casualties in the bloody violence and demanded of the government to enforce Nizam-i-Adl regulation to restore peace in the region.

In another development, unidentified people took away a representative of the Red Cross, Mr Daniel, along with his vehicle from Rahimabad on the outskirts of the Mingora city. However, he was set free later. A police constable, Sher Zaman, the guard of sessions judge of Swat, was kidnapped by armed men in the Qamber area.

Curfew was relaxed from 6am to 10pm in the Mingora city on Wednesday. However, there has been no relaxation in curfew in the rest of the Swat district for three days.
