KARACHI, April 19: Reckless driving claimed four lives in the city on Saturday.

Forty-year-old Ghulam Wahid, resident of Lyari, was run over by a passenger coach on Super Highway. He was a vegetable seller and had gone to the New Sabzimandi to buy vegetables.

The body was sent to a hospital for autopsy.

A father of seven died in a hit-and-run accident in Ibrahim Hyderi.

The police said Ali Ahmed, aged 50, was going to the home of his daughter when he was run over by an unknown vehicle in Ibrahim Hyderi police limits. He died on the spot.

The body was sent to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for post- mortem.

A 60-year-old woman died when she came under the wheels of a minibus while getting down from the minibus on M. A. Jinnah Road.

People pelted the minibus with stones and broke its glasses.

The woman, later identified as Hafiz Bibi, lost her balance while she was getting down from the minibus (JE-6985) of route W-11. She came under the wheels of the bus and was seriously injured. She was rushed to Civil Hospital where she died.

People beat the driver and pelted the bus with stones.

The police arrested the bus driver, Salamat Gul, and impounded the bus.

A woman died in a hit-and-run accident in Sharifabad near Zeenat square. The police said Rehana Khatoon was run over by an unknown vehicle. She died on the spot.

LAWYER WOUNDED: A client shot and wounded his lawyer in North Karachi late Friday night.

The police said Azizur Rahman alias Shammo engaged Mohammed Ashfaq, advocate, aged 50, to defend him in a case. Ashfaq demanded his fee. When Rahman went to Ashfaq’s home in sector 5-C-2 in North Karachi on Friday night there they had arguments. Rahman lost his temper and shot and wounded Ashfaq.

Ashfaq has been admitted to a hospital where his condition is stated to be serious.

The police registered a case.

A girl was shot and wounded outside her house in Sharea Faisal police limits late Friday night.

The police said as Sumaiyya came to open the door after hearing a knock, unidentified men opened fire on her and escaped.

KILLED: Two men were killed in the city on Saturday.

A watchman was found murdered in an empty plot in Gulistan-i-Jauhar.

The police said the watchman, Ameen Gul, aged 60, was hired to guard an empty plot in Gulistan-i-Jauhar’s block 8. He was killed with an axe.

A man was stabbed to death in his Peerabad house by his brother’s in-laws.

The police said Shaukat Ali came over to Karachi from Mansehra after his brother-in-law Khalid Khan sent his sister back to her parent’s home in Mansehra. Shaukat wanted to take revenge from Khalid.

When he entered the house of his brother-in-law, there he encountered Dildar Khan, younger brother of Khalid. Arguments took place between them. Shaukat stabbed Dildar.
