Authorities, under the directives of President Zardari, have initiated aid disbursement to the cyclone affectees in the coastal areas. -File

THATTA Under special directives of President Asif Ali Zardari, Thatta district administration have initiated disbursement of Rs, 11.705 million grant-in-aid amongst 11,705 cyclone affected families at the rate of Rs 1000 each, belonging to seven coastal talukas.

As per an official breakup, 57 families in Thatta, 549 in Shah Bunder, 1046 in Jati, 6627 in Mirpur Sakro, 408 in Gorabari, 2087 in Kharochhan and 931 in Keti Bunder would avail this little amount to gear up routine life in the catastrophe torn deltic belt.

DCO Thatta Manzoor Ali Shaikh in assistance of revenue officers and staff under a two member monitoring team comprising of member of board of revenue Pir Bux Jamali and additional relief commissioner Sindh Muneer Ahmed Memon disbursed Rs 1,40,000 in the presence of former PPP MPA Ghulam Qadir Paleejo and media people in two villages of Taluka Sakro i-e village Muhammad Ishaq Balooch and village Hergina Salt.

Heads of 140 families of Baloach's, Brohi's, Jokhia's, Barfat's and others received Rs 1000 each in cash.

The district administrator DCO Thatta told the media people that a comprehensive report on the recent cyclone was under compilation on the directives of the Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and the revenue staff has already initiated to assess the exact losses incurred to the kacha houses, settlements, fishing boats, the standing crops, poultry farms, cattle farms and other properties. -DawnNews
