KARACHI, Dec 6: Bandits injured and robbed a senior staffer of Dawn of cash in Gulistan-i-Jauhar on Thursday.

Naeem Khan was returning home in Rabia City after withdrawing Rs20,000 from the Gulistan-i-Jauhar branch of MCB at Jauhar Square. As he was walking back to home, armed men intercepted him a few yards away from Jauhar Square and demanded cash. When he tried to put up resistance, one of the bandits hit him with the butt of a pistol on the head, snatched Rs20,000 from him and sped away on motorcycles towards Jauhar Square.

His family rushed him to a hospital where he was given six stitches in the head.

About a week ago, Mr Naeem had been mugged by four armed men on a busy Saddar street who demanded a hefty sum from him. The armed men had introduced themselves as members of a political party, and they robbed him of Rs2,000.
