PESHAWAR, April 16: The political administration of Khyber Agency seized a large quantity of ammunition from a truck at Torkham border and arrested an Afghan on Wednesday.
Officials at the Pak-Afghan border at Torkham town told Dawn that the khasadar force and levies stopped a truck coming from Afghanistan on suspicion.
During the search they recovered 38 hand grenades, 21,000 bullets of Kalashnikov and 7MM rifle, 8 wireless sets, 150 Kalashnikov magazines and a large quantity of spare parts of different bore weapons. The political administration arrested Noor Mohammad, Afghan national and started investigations.
Meanwhile, the Peshawar police arrested an alleged killer and a car-snatcher, sources said.
Kaka Gul informed Faqirabad police station that a man hijacked his Suzuki pick-up from his residence at the Ittehad Colony on Wednesday morning. The police immediately erected barricades on several roads and stooped the car on the Ring Road.
The police arrested Pukhtonyar, a resident of Afghan Colony. In another incident, the police nabbed Altaf-ur-Rehman alias Kaka on the Mian Gujjar Road, when he was fleeing in a private taxi after allegedly killing Shahid Ali Shah in Akbarpura.
In the third incident, the police arrested three Afghans on the charges of possessing fake currency notes, while their accomplice fled after seeing the police party at the Stadium Chowk on Tuesday night.
