DERA GAZI KHAN The army reached Dera Ghazi Khan on the request of the district administration and police to fortify security arrangements from Muharram 7 to 11.

The army would be assisting police and the administration in providing an impenetrable security cover to participants in majalis and zuljinnah processions, District Coordination Officer Iftikhar Ali Sahu said in a meeting on Thursday.

He said all entry points of the town would be equipped with security equipment while law enforcement personnel would check all the vehicles.

The DCO said gates would be installed at all entry points to put in place permanent check posts there to check entry of unscrupulous elements.

The meeting also finalised a security plan for the remaining few days of Ashura, including Youm-i-Ashur. —APP
