ATTOCK, Aug 16 As many as 25 prisoners involved in petty crimes were released from the district jail on the directive of the district and sessions judge, said superintendent of the jail Syed Babar Ali said on Sunday.

The judge Irshad Mehmood Cheema issued the order during an inspection visit to the jail. He also directed the jail officials to provide all facilities to the prisoners as per the jail manual.

Meanwhile, one convicted prisoner was also released from the jail under the special remission announced by the government in connection with the 63rd Independence Day.

Besides, 11 other prisoners also benefited from the remission, the jail official said.

ROAD INAUGURATED MNA Aftab Ahmad inaugurated the Taja Baja-Sahma road in Hazro tehsil which was constructed at a cost of Rs20 million.

The chief guest on the occasion claimed that PML-N was committed to the uplift of Attock district.

SPECIAL SERVICES Christian community held special services at local churches in connection with the Independence Day. Local minority spokesman Shanshah Danish informed newsmen that special prayers were held at Saint Peter Catholic Church, Attock cantonment, Bible Church, Jail Road, and UP Church, Railway Station Road.
