CJP to visit Adiala Jail today

ISLAMABAD, Sept 20 Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry will visit Adiala Jail on Eidul Fitr (Monday), Dawn learnt on Sunday.

Sources said the chief justice accompanied by the judges of high court was scheduled to visit the jail to observe its condition. He will visit the kitchens, barracks and section reserved for women prisoner to observe the facilities being provided to the inmates.

Besides, the chief justice is expected to inquire about the undertrial prisoners as well as those detained on judicial remand.

The sources said the Rawalpindi police had forwarded to the authorities the details of undertrials, prisoners on judicial remand and those people whose charge sheets were yet to be completed.

It may be mentioned here that the jail also houses a high security prison, where suspects and convict involved in terrorism are detained.
