KOHAT One policeman was killed when militants attacked the Mamokhwara checkpost in Hangu district late on Tuesday night. Security personnel manning the post returned fire and killed six attackers.

The post has been attacked several times in recent past apparently because it obstructed militants' movement in the area and on the Kohat-Parachinar highway.

Some time later, a police contingent sent from Doaba to Mamkhwara came under attack in Jawara area.
The ensuing exchange of fire continued for about two hours.

Seven policemen who were injured were taken to the Hangu civil hospital.

In another incident, one policeman was injured when militants attacked a police van on the Indus Highway near Kohat.
