MULTAN, March 29 Syed Ahmad Mujtaba Gilani, the PM's camp office in-charge in Multan, opened the Horse and Cattle Show and spring festival at Qila Qasim Bagh here on Sunday.

The opening ceremony was scheduled for Saturday, but the rain forced its postponement to Sunday. MPA Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar, DCO Khurram Agha, other officials besides a large number of people watched the colourful show.

Students from the Multan Public School demonstrated the physical training show and gymnastic show in which they jumped and passed through rings of fire. Girls performed as volunteers in the fire-fighting demonstration organized by the Civil Defence department.

The motorcycle jump by bike-rider Hassan Leghari over nine cars encouraged nine-year-old girl Sughra Leghari to successfully jump over raging flames of fire.

Cattle heads passed in a row before spectators and judges who were deputed to declare the health contest winners. Dance parties also performed traditional Jhoomer.

Camel and horse dances were also performed. A lion in the cage was the main attraction for the children. A Kabaddi match between Multan and Khanewal teams was won by the local team.

The DCO also inaugurated an agro-industrial exhibition at the Qasim Fort.

Syed Ahmad Mujtaba Gilani and the DCO distributed prizes among winners of contests and best performers. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Gilani congratulated the district administration for organizing a colourful show.
