HARIPUR, Dec 5: District Nazim Haripur, Dr Raja Aamir Zaman, has said that he would prefer to relinquish the charge of district Nazim in case he failed to protect the rights of his district.

Speaking at the gathering of Nazims of different union councils of Haripur, he said funds earmarked under the Khushal Pakistan Programme had been doubled from Rs50.5 million and would be spent on the well-being of the area people and the uplift of the district which had remained neglected for the last 52 years.

He assured the Nazims that complete transparency would be ensured in spending the funds and every development scheme would be approved with due endorsement of the area public where the said scheme was going to be launched.

About the powers of elected Nazims and difficulties being faced by them, Dr Aamir assured the Nazims that he would never compromise on the interests of his district and would bring in to the notice of the governor and the president if confronted with such a situation.

He urged the Nazims to be realistic and not to make any recommendation which was against the rules. He, however, assured them that their powers would be protected by the government.
