BAHAWALPUR, March 20 Veteran 'kafi' singer Parveen Nazar will be conferred on the pride of performance award on Pakistan Day (March 23) at the Governor's House, Lahore.

Hailing from Khanqah Sharif, Parveen Nazar began her professional career from Radio Pakistan in 1984. Since then she has sung hundreds of kafis of saint-poet Khwaja Ghulam Farid, folks, ghazals and matrimonial songs on Radio Pakistan Bahawalpur and Multan stations.

She has also sung Shah Husain, Bulleh Shah, Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, Sachal Sarmast and Bedil Sindhi with full devotion and won admiration.

She is regarded as an outstanding kafi vocalist and has a credit to promote spiritualistic kind of music in Pakistan.—Correspondent
