KASUR, July 4 Though the district police claim to have taken 'extraordinary' security measures here in the wake of Thursday's twin suicide attacks on the shrine of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh, the shrine of Baba Bulleh Shah remains highly prone to any terror activity.

Visited by a huge number of devotees from across the country every day, the shrine has no closed-circuit televisions. A checkpoint has been set up here with just one constable on duty.

On the instructions of the provincial government some months ago, the district administration had decided to install closed-circuit televisions at key points in the city, but not a single camera has been installed on any road, public place or shrine so far.

The DCO Office has a number of closed-circuit televisions, a walkthrough gate and other security equipment on its premises, but no such facility is available at the DPO Office, district courts, district jail, revenue offices and lawyers' chambers.

Main bus stops and railway stations have also not been taken care of in the wake of the prevailing security situation.

However, the district police claimed in a handout that extraordinary measures had been taken in the district after the blasts at Lahore's major shrine.

District Police Officer Gohar Nafees says it takes money to boost security in the district, but the administration is short of funds. He, however, said an operation had been started in the district to hunt militants.
