Karachi Sindh Minister for Local Government Agha Siraj Durani has said that action would soon be taken against corrupt Nazims and those local bodies representatives who are enjoying perks and privileges beyond their entitlement.

He said that due to such malpractice, the local government system has suffered and failed to deliver and resolve public grievances. Durani said that LG department has received a number of complaints and after probing and examining, action would be taken against such elements that would also include recommending them for disqualification.

He said during the tenure of last government, development funds were looted, and utilized for personal benefit. “Sindh Local Government Ordinance is very clear regards perks and privileges of LG representatives and exceeding the entitlement is bound for action under the law,” he categorically stated.

Durani appealed to the general public to inform the department about the corrupt practices of LG representatives so that action could be taken. Agha Siraj said if the Nazims desire to go to court against the provincial government, they can do so. “We would also submit evidence of their misdeeds and corruption there,” he added.
