SUKKUR Six people were kidnapped by armed men from Khairpur district late on Monday. Three engineers and their driver were kidnapped from near Daharki and two construction workers from the Tando Masti area.

Engineers of a Chinese firm, Idrees Ahmed, Rashid Ahmed and Habib-ur-Rehman after installing a power plant near Dad Leghari were going towards Daharki when they were kidnapped along with their driver Mir Mohammad. A group of armed men hiding in the bushes waylaid the engineers near Pir Jamal graveyard and on gunpoint abducted them along with the driver and the car.

Idrees Ahmed hails from Jacobabad, Rashid Ali from Karachi and Habib-ur-Rehman from Rahim Yar Khan, while their driver Mir Mohammad is a local.

Heavy police contingent and armed villagers chased the kidnappers but without any success.

In a second incidence, six armed men kidnapped Rajab Ali, Mashooq and Mohammad Yaqoob on Tuesday from Manganhar Pul near Tando Masti while working on road construction.

However, Rajab Ali managed to escape from captivity.

He told the police that six armed people kidnapped them while they were carrying out road construction work near Manganhar Pul, reported our correspondent from Khairpur.
