Prisoner `commits suicide`

GUJRANWALA, March 8 A prisoner involved in the murder case of an elementary school student was found dead under mysterious circumstance s at his barrack here on Saturday.

Reports said accused Shoaib alias Teepo of Garjakh had kidnapped youth Arslan when he was on his way home from the school some four days ago. The former sodomised the latter and killed him. Police had recovered the body of Arslan from the bank of a drain and arrested Shoaib. Police later sent him to jail on a judicial remand.

On Saturday, the jail authorities said Shoaib committed suicide by hanging himself in his barrack. The body was handed over to the heirs after legal formalities.

SIX KILLED

Six passengers of two wagons, including drivers, were killed while 30 others injured in a collision on GT Road near Kamoki on Saturday.

Reports said a Lahore-bound wagon (LHO-6624) collided with another vehicle (LRO-2798) coming from the opposite side near Kamoki. As a result Jamila, her son Saleem, Siddiqa Bibi and Asghar were killed on the spot while drivers of the vehicles succumbed to their injuries in DHQ hospital. The injured were rushed to Kamoki civil and DHQ hospitals.

The injured identified as Ghulam Mushtaq, Saleem, Ali, Sattar, Javed, Nadeem were shifted to Mayo hospital, Lahore in a critical condition.
