KARACHI, April 10: The district and sessions judge, Central, Zafar Ahmed Khan Sherwani, acquitted on Thursday a worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in the Pasha Gul murder case.
The judge exonerated Naveedul Hasan from the murder charge as the prosecution could not establish its case against him.
The MQM worker was prosecuted for killing the labour leader on Nov 6, 2002, near Paposh Nagar within the limits of the Nazimabad police.
LIFE TERM: The additional district and sessions judge, Central, Riaz Ahmed Shaikh, sentenced a man to suffer life imprisonment for killing a man.
Accused Mehboob Ahmed Khan was found guilty of committing the murder of Khalid Nasim on November 11, 2000, in New Karachi.
The judge also imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on the convict, who would have to undergo an additional one-year term in case of default on the payment.
The court, however, acquitted co-accused, Asif Raza, while giving him benefit of doubt.
The case was registered on the complaint of the deceased’s brother, Faisal Nadeem.
