KARACHI, April 9: The Board of Secondary Education, will continue to offer computer studies as an optional subject, in the annual examination, 2004 and onwards.

A BSE notification said that students would be given an option to select any of the three optional subjects in class IX science.

Under the new scheme, students taking class IX annual examination in Science group will be offered three subjects as optional, ie Biology, Computer Studies, and a technical subject.

Earlier, in its notification the Board had removed the Computer Studies from the list of the optional subjects, which had confused the students who were interested in computer education.

However, a senior BSE official told Dawn that the omission of Computer Studies in the notification of March 31 was a clerical mistake and the revised BSE notification, issued on April 8, should be treated as valid for all practical purposes.
