KARACHI Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Rohan Bopanna's preparation of this month's US Open was back on track when they entered the quarterfinals of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington DC on Wednesday.

Pakistan's Qureshi and India's Bopanna beat Martin Damm (Czech Republic) and Oliver Marach (Austria) 7-5, 4-6, 10-3, in a close encounter ahead of the last grand slam of the year.

The Indo-Pak pair have recently won a number of closely contested matches and will now face former men's doubles number one pair Mike Bryan and Bob Bryan of the US.

Speaking ahead of the clash, the Bryan brothers praised Qureshi and Bopanna for their efforts to bring the two countries together.

“It's amazing what they are doing,” Mike Bryan said. “They are promoting world peace. They have got two warring countries and they are doing great things. We're all proud of them.”
