NEW DELHI Indias field hockey association said Monday it is scrapping a four-nation event planned to test the field ahead of the Feb. 28-March 13 World Cup.

Ashok Mattoo, president of Hockey India, said the four-nation event, scheduled to begin Jan. 13, was canceled as it was not approved by the International Hockey Federation (FIH).

Mattoo said Hockey India was now trying to organize another series to try out facilities at New Delhis National Stadium, where new pitch has been laid for the World Cup.
