RAWALPINDI, April 5: The judge of anti-terrorists court No. 2, Safdar Hussain Malik, on Saturday rejected the bail application of a person accused of harassing Haji Roshan and demanding money from him.

According to the prosecution, Asif made several phone calls to the complainant, Haji Roshan, demanding Rs200,000 from him.

The accused also threatened to abduct the complainant’s daughter, if Mr Roshan failed to arrange the amount.

The prosecution said the complainant, using a Caller Line Identification (CLI) device, detected the numbers through which the accused made the calls. The numbers were registered with various Public Call Offices (PCOs), he added.

The complainant informed the Hazro police, who arrested Asif from a PCO. The police had also allegedly seized a 30-bore pistol from the accused.

However, the judge confirmed the bail of two co-accused — Aslam and Saeed — in the same case, who escaped from the PCO after seeing the policemen.

In another case, the judge acquitted two persons of the charges of beating a registrar, when the two parties involved in the case reached an agreement.

According to the prosecution, Shahid Ishaq and Masud Ahmed had allegedly beaten the registrar, Chaudhry Mohammad Arshad, in his office at Hazro, Attock district.

The registrar had demanded money from the two persons to perform registration work, but the latter refused to pay the amount and exchanged harsh words.

The district and sessions judge, Dost Mohammad Khemta, awarded six months of rigorous imprisonment (RI) to a person for peddling heroin.

The judge also imposed a fine of Rs500 on the convict, Taza Gul, who confessed to the crime. Pirwadhai police arrested the convict for possessing 110g heroin.

Similarly, the civil judge and judicial magistrate, Hidayatullah Shah, awarded two months of RI to Khurram Shahzad for possessing unlicensed weapon.

Meanwhile, the additional district and sessions judge, Syed Pervez Ali Shah, issued show cause notices to the station house officer and assistant sub-inspector of Waris Khan police station for not complying with the court orders.

The police officials failed to present a person in an assault case for the last one year, despite repeated directions of the court. The accused is currently serving jail term in another case in district jail, Peshawar.
