KARACHI, Oct 8 Two dacoits, who were released on Sept 30 after being benefited by the special remission on the occasion of Eid, were arrested by the Site police after a shootout near Habib Bank Chowrangi.

SHO Rao Mohammed Rafique told Dawn that the dacoits, identified as Mohammed Yousuf and Munawwar Hafeez, were spotted during snap checking in a taxi (JN-4991) that they had snatched on Tuesday in Saeedabad.

He said the suspects opened fire on the police party in their bid to flee the scene, but their taxi rammed into a pavement. Two pistols and three snatched mobile phones were also seized from the suspects.—Staff Reporter
