DERA ISMAIL KHAN, March 16 Twelve activists and leaders of outlawed Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) were arrested in a crackdown by Dera police on Monday.

Sources said that the Dera police had launched crackdown on the activists and leaders of SSP. As a result twelve activists, including principal secretary of MPA Khalifa Abdul Qayyum, have been arrested and raids to arrest others are being conducted.

The DSP City, Ihsanullah, SHO City Iftikhar Ali Shah and SHO Cantt Saadullah Khan along with police personnel conducted raids in Alam Sher Colony, Madena Colony, Shiekh Yousaf Adda and Katch Painda Khan.

The raids on the banned outfit's activists and local leaders were conducted owing to the prevailing law and order situation and incidents involving sectarian violence in the region. — Correspondent
