HYDERABAD, Dec 16 Most of the water has been drained out from the villages, which had been flooded by breaches in HDA's lagoon in Qasimabad taluka a couple of days ago, and the villagers have started returning home, according to a spokesman for the district nazim.

He said in a press statement on Tuesday that the district government had distributed one week's ration, including flour, pulses, rice, ghee, sugar and tea, among the affected villagers of Khan Mohammad Mahar, Sajan Detho, Wahid Palari and other villages.

He said that power supply had been restored to the villages and fodder had been supplied to the villagers for their cattle.

A veterinary and a medical camp had also been set up in the affected area, the spokesman said and added that the Water and Sanitation Agency had installed 17 pumps, City and Latifabad talukas 10 pumps and Qasimabad three pumps to drain out the water.

The district government had supplied tents, blankets, quilts, filtered water and three meals a day to the affected villagers as long as they stayed at their makeshift homes along the river bank, he said.
