HYDERABAD: Bar polls on 28th

HYDERABAD, Feb 9 The general secretary of the High Court Bar Association's Hyderabad chapter Allah Bachayo Soomro announced on Monday the bar elections would be held on Feb 28.

He said in a press release nomination papers would be received from Feb 13 to 21, scrutiny of papers would be held on Feb 22, candidates would be able to withdraw papers by Feb 25 and clear their dues by Feb 25, list of eligible voters would be displayed on Feb 26 and polling would be held on 28.

He said that elections for the posts of president, vice-president, general secretary, library secretary, treasurer and joint secretary would be held under the Bar Association (Recognition Rules 2002). As per rules, the candidate for the office of president and vice-president should have at least 10 years standing at the bar and those running for general secretary should have at least five years standing at the bar.—Staff correspondent
