HYDERABAD, Jan 5 The Hyderabad circuit bench of the Sindh High Court on Monday allowed a student of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Samreen Memon, to appear in examination after paying normal examination fee but restrained university authorities from announcing her result till the court decided her petition.

Amjad Sahito advocate, who represented Ms Memon, requested the court to provide interim relief to the petitioner who had challenged the university's demand for making full payment of Rs175,000 to be able to reappear in examination.

She said that she was asked to pay full amount because she studied under self-finance scheme while regular MBBS students were not required to pay fee in full for one professional year, which was quite discriminatory.

She said that she was unable to pay the amount because she had already indebted herself when she had failed in another paper.

The examination forms were being filled and the last date was Jan 10. If the court did not grant her interim relief, she would lose one year, she said.

She prayed the court to declare that rule of recovery of whole amount of fee for allowing her to reappear in one MCQ was illegal. She should be allowed to deposit examination fee in the manner prescribed for other regular students, she said.

Kamaluddin advocate filed papers on behalf of the university.
