KASUR, March 31: Unscheduled loadshedding has created problems for domestic consumers, shopkeepers and the business community.

The electric appliances of several consumers have gone out of order due to fluctuations in the power supply.

The consumers told Dawn that they were suffering due to the negligence of Lesco authorities as they did not serve them prior notices of power suspension.

Most of the shopkeepers are seen sitting outside their shops owing to the frequent power breakdowns. Owners of powerlooms, printing, sizing machines and tannery units are also suffering losses. Hundreds of tannery and powerloom workers, mostly daily wage earners, are the worst-sufferers.

The main affected areas are Niaz Nagar, Kot Haleem Khan, Naya Bazaar, Railway Road, Chandni Chowk, Bazaar Sarrafan, Khan Mahal Chowk, Kot Murad Khan, Basti Chiragh Shah, Sabri Basti, Dingipura, Androon Kot, Kot Maulvi Abdul Qadir and Rasoolpura.

ARRESTED: Sarai Mughal police on Monday claim to have arrested a man on the charge of providing shelter to three proclaimed offenders in Hanjrai Khan village.

Police also recovered a stolen car and two motorcycles from his possession.

Acting on a tip-off, the police raided the house of Muhammad Arshad where POs Javed, Khalid and Nazir were present, but they managed to flee from the back door of the house. However, police arrested Arshad and recovered from him the stolen car (2405-CH) and two motorcycles (8330-LXA) and (7015-LXO).

LOOTED: Eleven armed men on Monday entered the house in Haveli Malkan Bhamba village and tortured women and took away cash, ornaments and other valuables over a money dispute.

Muhammad Amir along with his 10 accomplices barged into the house of Mst Chand Bibi, locked her and her daughters Rani and Perveen in a room. Later, they took away Rs20,000 in cash, ornaments worth Rs15,000 and other valuables. Earlier, the intruders also thrashed Chand Bibi and her daughters.
