KARACHI, March 31: The senior deputy convener of Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Coordination Committee, Dr Farooq Sattar, left for London on Sunday with a plan to oversee party affairs from the British capital.

According to sources, initially Dr Sattar is likely to stay in London for three months. During his previous visit to Britain, there were rumours that was seeking political asylum there.

However, the rumours were rejected as conjecture. His fresh visit, the sources opined, could be part of a changed operational strategy of the MQM and might be aimed at giving him ‘a breather’.

After the assumption of the office of Sindh governor by Dr Ishratul Ibad, the post of convener of the committee has fallen vacant and the possibility of Dr Sattar assuming that position cannot be ruled out.

After the departure of Dr Sattar to London, Mrs Nasreen Jaleel was expected to look after political and other matters of the party.
