PESHAWAR, March 30: A meeting of the provincial joint action committee and Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Associations has decided to observe hunger strike at the Peshawar University’s campus on April 5 against the Model University Ordinance.

The meeting organized by the Peshawar University Teachers’ Association also decided that the participants would organize a mouth-muffled protest in a cemetery to suggest the governments were more soul-less than the dead, as they did not pay any heed to the protest rallies of teachers throughout the country against MUO.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of all the NWFP universities, colleges and schools, stated a press release issued on Sunday.

The participants endorsed the decisions of the central joint action committee.

The provincial joint action committee unanimously passed a resolution condemning the apathy of the central and provincial governments towards the persistent protests of the university teachers about the Model University Ordinance. The meeting warned that if the governments did not respond, the joint action committee would resort to a complete strike in the educational institutions in the country.
