ISLAMABAD The Asian Kabaddi Championship has been postponed due to the involvement of the Indian kabaddi team in the Commonwealth Games.

 

“We received an email from the Indian Kabaddi Federation requesting to postpone the Asian Kabaddi Championship because of their involvement in the Commonwealth Games in India,” Muhammad Sarwar, Secretary of the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) told APP on Tuesday.

 

Earlier, the championship was scheduled to take place at the Sports Complex from September 24 and the new dates would be announced later.

 

He said that teams from India, Iran, Afghanistan, Chinese Taipei, Malaysia, Thailand and Nepal had sent their confirmation letters and Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Oman, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh had also been invited.

 

He further said that the Pakistan team is currently undergoing training at Jinnah Stadium where 10-senior and 11-young players are part of the camp for the tournament. - APP
