KARACHI, March 26: The City Government plans to revamp its quality control department in order to better monitor and control adulteration of foodstuffs.

In this regard, an action plan will be formulated in 30 days’ time, said a spokesman for the City Government on Wednesday. The plan will particularly look into ways how the quality control laboratories could be improved.

According to the spokesman, the DCO — Mir Hussein Ali — had taken notice of the inefficiency in the said department during a meeting.

He observed that since the quality of foodstuffs was vital for the people’s health, adulteration should be taken very seriously.

The DCO was of the view that the QC department was too small to meet the needs of the people.
