KARACHI, March 26: Police on Wednesday showed arrest of 80 suspects and recovery of a large quantity of arms and ammunition from different parts of Landhi Town.

Addressing a press conference at the office of the town police officer Landhi Town, DIG Operations Tariq Jamil said that 80 suspects were arrested during different raids conducted in Landhi Town during the past one month.

The DIG said the Landhi Town police arrested three suspects identified as Arshad Ali, Shoaibullah and Fahimuddin, and recovered three submachine guns, two klashnikovs, two pistols, a repeater gun and 132 cartridges from a hideout. He said the three suspects belonged to the Mohajir Qaumi Movement.

He said that a sizable quantity of arms and ammunition was also recovered during the raids.

According to a list provided by police, 15 klashnikovs, two 7 mm rifles, one 8 mm rifle, three 12 bore rifles and submachine guns 21 pistols, one repeater gun, one revolver, 18 magazines of SMG, one hand-grenade and 3,500 rounds of different weapons were recovered during the raids.

Police said that in one case some arms were found concealed in a gas cylinder.
