Rs4.5m gold heist in Gujrat

GUJRAT, Sept 28 Thieves on Sunday night took away gold and ornaments worth Rs4.5 million from a diamond laboratory situated at local jewellery market near Dhaki area in B Division police precincts.

Reports said some thieves broke open locks of the laboratory and took away gold and other ornaments worth Rs4.5 million.

After the incident, the traders started a protest and demanded early arrest of the accused. A Sarafa market source told Dawn that earlier the police were reluctant to register a case. However, they registered a theft case following protest by the traders.

B division police have registered a case on the report of Muhammad Javed, the owner of the shop, and started investigation.

Meanwhile, the crime scene unit of the Gujrat police also visited the site and took pictures as well as finger prints of the culprits.
