KARACHI, March 23: Social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi has contacted the governments of Pakistan and Iran to seek permission for his volunteers to go to Iraq to serve the war victims there.

A statement issued by the Edhi Foundation says Maulana Edhi plans to go to Iraq by road with ambulances, medicines, food, etc.

The statement said medicines and foodstuffs would be bought in Iran, where these were comparatively inexpensive and would be easier to transport to nextdoor Iraq.
