QUETTA, March 10 A division bench of the Balochistan High Court has expressed dissatisfaction over efforts by police to arrest terrorists involved in target killings and observed that police department must improve its system so that people do not face difficulties in filing complaints at police stations.

The bench comprising Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Justice Syeda Tahira Safdar turned down on Wednesday a request by provincial police officer Javed Shah Bukhari seeking permission to give in-camera briefing to the bench on target killings.

The chief justice remarked that there was no need to hide things from people and open proceedings should go ahead. Home Secretary Akbar Durrani told the court that transfer and postings of police officials because of political interference was a major hurdle in improving the police performance.

Amanullah Kanrani, vice president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, and Shakeel Ahmed Hadi, president of the Balochistan High Court Bar Association, who were told to assist the court in the suo motu case, submitted their suggestions. Deputy attorney-general Malik Sikandar Khan represented the state.
