LAHORE, July 24 Former president Gen Pervez Musharraf (retired) should be tried under crime charges, demands PML-N leader Tehmina Daultana.

At a press conference here at Press Club on Friday, Ms Daultana said that Musharraf's crimes against Pakistan were horrific enough to warrant a trial, and it should be done without losing any more time.

She said that the former military “dictator” tampered with the Constitution of Pakistan, killed Nawab Akbar Bugti and threw out democratically elected and constitutional government.

She said military dictators had pushed Pakistan to stage where its ideological basis and physical integrity was at stake.

They never accepted or respected the supremacy of the Constitution without worrying about people and country. “Had Pakistan not de-railed again and again by military adventures, it could have been in much better position. I absolutely have no doubt that all problems that we face today - extremism and militancy - could not have been there without military coups.”
